The City of Angels
So Tuesday, I met up with an old friend of mine. Mr. Stephen Poon. I remember meeting this nigga about over 2 years ago in our film school/class in Monrovia. Damn, those were great times. This guy pretty much introduced the world of photography to me. Showed the the basics and just made me fall in love with it. Considering I was a film major, and cinematography was the main thing we worked on in our film class, it just boosted the switch I made from film to photography.
But anyway, after I left that class, I haven’t seen him since, until today. Damn was it a bittersweet reunion. I felt super nostalgic driving down to Sierra Madre Metro station (It was the same exact route to get there as going to the old art school). But we met up, and took the Gold Line straight to the heart of LA. We got off at Pershing Square, and our photo hunt journey began. Honestly, it was pretty insane despite the times we felt a bit..uninspired. Poon was sick, so he wasn’t feeling it at times either, but we managed to find sick places to shoot, and even a rooftop where I BBoyed (WOO!).
Found some places that we definitely need to go back to very soon. MOCA: Art In The Streets Exhibit (which was CLOSED when we got there…) and the Illest store (I don’t care if that sounds Hype right now, I didn’t know their store was in Little Tokyo. Sadly they closed to when we found it. You had no idea of the excitement I had though.)
But anyway, ended the day with ramen, and chipotle (cause we fatasses and a bowl of Orochon ramen isn’t enough hahah). It was awesome seeing my friend again. Time to edit the pictures and post them. I’ll put a couple on here, maybe..if I like them enough to show everyone (:
Oh, and shout-outs to my homie, AJ. Congratulations on your CD release, bro! I wish I could’ve been there. Damn, you’ve gone so far and done so much since I last remember (basically when I last saw you, haha). Keep doing your thing man!
